We use uniquely detailed data for the Swedish labor market to study the relationship between sexual harassment and labor market inequality. Women are subject to more harassment from colleagues and managers in industries and occupations that are more male-dominated. Harassment also grows with the share of male employees in a workplace, conditional on occupation and education type.  These patterns highlight sexual harassment as a workplace phenomenon that maintains occupational segregation. Since the same factors that predict sexual harassment also predict higher pay, this is suggestive evidence that sexual harassment is an important factor behind the gender pay gap. Abstract

Joint with Olle Folke.
