Recruiting

The Department of Economics at Bar-Ilan University invites applications for tenure-track junior and senior faculty positions in all fields of economics.

We are looking for candidates with strong research potential. Senior candidates should have an established publication record.

We are particularly interested in candidates specializing in macroeconomics, monetary economics, international economics, economic growth and development, applied microeconomics, law and economics, public and political economy, financial economics, behavioral/experimental economics, urban/real-estate economics, labor economics, and environmental economics.

We are unlikely to recruit candidates specializing in microeconomic theory (as we already have many researchers in this field in the department).

Knowledge of Hebrew is not required initially (though it is recommended), but successful candidates are expected to learn the language within at most two years of appointment. We will aim to allocate teaching in English for the first 1-2 years (entirely in English in the first year, and mostly in English in the second year). Teaching after the initial two years will be in Hebrew. Candidates not fluent in Hebrew should mention their commitment to learning Hebrew in their cover letter.

The position is subject to Bar-Ilan University administration's budgetary approval (which is still tentative at this stage).

Candidates are encouraged to send inquiries and applications to Economics.Dept@biu.ac.il.

Applications should include a brief cover letter, CV and job market paper. Three reviewers should send their recommendation letters directly.

Applications can also be sent through Econjobmarket.org

The target date for full consideration is October 30th, 2023. The deadline for applications is November 21st, 2023.

Zoom interviews will take place in early December. Job talks will occur in late December and January.
