Professor Emeritus Gershon Alperovich

The first departmental seminar for the 2022‒2023 academic year, which was held on October 24, 2022, was dedicated to the memory of our college Professor (Emeritus) Gershon Alperovich, Z”L.

Professor Alperovich was a leading scholar in the fields of urban and transportation economics, ranked among the top 25 (and even among the top 3) scholars in these fields.

During the event, his colleagues and family members talked about Professor Alperovich as a parent, a friend, a colleague, a scholar, and an academic who has contributed significantly to the Department of Economics, to Bar-Ilan University, and more broadly to the academics.

Following the event, Professor David Genesove of the Hebrew University presented a paper on “Joint Decision Making for a Public Good: Elevator Retrofits,” coauthored with Marcus Asplund of the Copenhagen Business School.
