Poverty and Inequality: Measurement Principles, Trends in Israel, and International Comparison - Part 2
One of the main objectives of the welfare state is to deal with poverty and offer an assistance to the citizens with inadequate incomes. The degree of a welfare state’s success in dealing with poverty, is an indicator of its effectiveness in relieving the material deprivation of its citizens. According to International comparisons, Israel’s efforts to reduce the incidence of poverty have only been partially successful. Our analysis points to the reasons for this outcome.
